Are there any tips for improving my aim with a 9mm UZI rifle (full-size)?  I am left handed, but I am right eye dominant since my left eye has horrible vision.  I can generally hit a tight grouping at 7 yards in the center of the bulls-eye but any farther and it's all luck.  Thanks

PS: Once my aim improves I'd like to become an instructor for teaching friends/family how to shoot.  How do I go about doing this? Thanks

if I were you, I'd register for this weekend's Appleseed out at Calverton.  You'll learn the basics and your shooting will improve dramatically.  I don't think the Uzi would be the right rifle for such a shoot, but investing in a .22 would be a good idea either way for cheap practice.  The Appleseed folks may even have a loaner if you contact them.. never hurts to ask.

This is a great topic.

I am as well trying to improve my aim, I am new to the whole shooting scene.

And I have some problems to keep the groups close.

I don't have any handguns, so I'm going to generalize with my experience in long-guns. Sight Alignment, Sight Picture and Consistency is the key. You need to hold the gun the same way, breath the same way and use the same ammo for every shot. If you work hard at it and concentrate while you shoot over time you'll develop the consistency to put the bullet where you want it to go.

Here is a link that will hopefully shed some light for you.
Please - if you haven't already - join the NRA.
And +1 on the Appleseed. It's a perfect venue for what you're asking about. Lots of shooters there and no stress of competition. Plus the orange hats and red hats are more than happy to help you getting you shots placed and your technique improved.

Are you shooting off your left or right shoulder?

Im right handed/left eye dominant and I shoot lefty. I hit much better groups shooting lefty than righty; It just takes a while to get used to the switch though.

if you shoot tight groups at 7, you should shoot decent groups at 50yds.

Once that bullet leaves the barrel, even with bullet drop, wont be that different at 50 yds- so whatever technique your using works well at 7, just keep slowly extending the range out. Just dont change your point of aim.

Is your vision correctable???
what is the sight radius on the uzi?
what sights are on the uzi??
if you can not focus at the further distance you may have to put a form of optics if you eyes can not be fixed.
the front site is the most important thing every thing else can be blurry but you can not hit what you can not see
