Yes I am a newb.  But I have done some research and have come to the conclusion that my first assault rifle is gonna be an Ak47.  I know that they are very reliable, but also some aren't made as good as others.  So my question is about the Romanian AK's and there quality and if there worth getting?  And if so what would be an "average" cost for them.  And if not, what's a decent one for a first AK?  Thanks for any help people.

I have a few AK and one of them is Romanian. They should be between $475.00 - $550.00 these days. I would check out the Saiga and look into converting it to an AK style by using the 992R compliant parts.

Check this site. ---->Saiga

The Romanian AK's are low on the totem pole, but they represent what the AK is known for. They're cheap, tough and reliable.

Just as an aside the WASR-10 is not an assault rifle. It's just a rifle. Assault rifles are select fire weapons. Calling your rifle an assault rifle will make ninnies and liberals want to ban it, because they are afraid of it.

IMO if you are going to spend NY prices on a WASR ($500+ on a $350 rifle) you may as well get a saiga and convert it. That's what I did. By going this route, you don't necessarily spend any more money but you end up with a much higher quality, more accurate rifle. You also can choose a different caliber if you want. The saigas are made in the Izhmash factory where they make the AK-100 series rifles. For the cost of a WASR you can build a basic AK style rifle, or for a little more you can build a very authentic AKM, AK-74 (in 5.45mm) or AK-100 series clone.

Here's mine, have about $500 into it, between the rifle itself and the parts for conversion:

That's a nice gun schniederman!  What process did you do to end up with that?   The reason why Im going with the AK is reliability and the 7.6 ammo.

This is absolutely wrong statement. There is a lot of gun enthusiasts among democrats and liberals and some of them have knowledge about the subject enough to shame majority of this board. Yet there is plenty gun haters among Republicans/conservatives.

Back to the topic. Today at the gun show a guy in front of me snapped WASR for $369.
WASR was the first rifle I bought myself, all the previous ones were issued to me. For all these years I havent had a single problem with it.

$350 in LIF WASR 10 group buy. It's no where near a tack driver but a blast to shoot

Went to a couple places today and ended up at campsite.  Ended up buying a Saiga.  It seems easy enough to mod it.  It was 399 for a new one and that's what everyone else wanted too.  It's only my second gun and yes I'm already hooked.  There's so much out there that I don't know what I want next!  Most likely an M4.  Any suggestions?  What did the rest of you guys purchase and in what order?  Just curious.

Have fun with what you have now... no need to rush things cause then you will never have the time to really enjoy the individual firearms. I was looking into the Saiga for a while but have since decided to just pick up a wasr.

Good choice on the Saiga. I own a WASR 10 and would go with another rifle if given a choice. The SAR 1's were better rifles.
