Just saw this on the SCPD licensing website:
********ATTENTION LICENSE HOLDERS, PLEASE NOTE******** Effective immediately the Pistol Licensing Bureau has begun a “PILOT PROGRAM”. This program will make it no longer necessary to provide handgun information when obtaining a PURCHASE DOCUMENT, the expiration however, will remain TEN (10) DAYS . |

I think you have 20 days to shop around rather than 10 days. At least it was last month. |

Does the document have to be returned to Yaphank or will any police station do? Also can it be mailed back? |

The completed document has to be returned to Yaphank along with the handgun for verification and update to your license. If you do not use the document, it can be simply mailed back to Yaphank. Just mark "Not Used" across it before mailing. You have to purchase the document in person. At that time, please ask the officer any questions you may have about the process. Do not accept any information you get on this forum without verification with the officers at the Pistol Bureau. |

I currently have a purchase document in hand and it states it must be used within 20 days |

It's still 20 days but they haven't been able to update their website, since that's done by an outside contractor, which only updates in bulk. It can be mailed back but only to Yaphank, if it's not used. Gary |

Major changes like this and others should be updated on the web asap. Its an internet world out there now. Most people rely on the Internet for the latest information. Even if it costs $ to make the change/update it should be done. No excuses. It's part of the 'job'. If you have a website; keep it up-to-date. Period. |

that's right "no excuses" ... Stevie speak to the Founding Member of the Bobtorre fan club: Toto, I think we must have a section for "Guapo members only" in this forum; prompto. Subjects discussed there will range from smoking cigars to fighting evil. We will be posting different waffle recipes to fortify our members' diets as well as classified ads for sombreros and little burritos. It will be a section to be remembered. Fear No Evil. |
