Officer Genari is great, actually they are all really nice folks. The interview isn't really an interview in the traditional sense, it's more of an opportunity for them to get you finger prints, give you a copy of the handbook and get a feel for what kind of person you are during the course of normal conversation. At least that's how it went for me. I came straight from work so I was dressed business casual but as long as you don't show up looking like a bum I don't think that matters too much. |

Right. It's more of a meet 'n greet than an interview. At least that was my experience. |

The staff at the PLB are all very nice. The interview is straightforward; they would like to see what you look like, and make sure you don't come in wearing a tin foil helmet. You'll go over your application, initial your answers as being true and complete. You'll get a copy of the handbook, and you'll sign for it. You'll get blank copies of the reference affidavits and envelopes to mail them back in if you haven't already submitted them. Then you get fingerprinted and have your picture taken. For whatever reason, they don't like it when you stand in front of the camera and "work it", trying out various facial poses like you're in the musical montage/photo booth scene of a teen movie...resist the temptation. After that, you'll start one of the most agonizing waiting periods of your life, which could last several months. As long as your application is true and accurate, you're not a felon you don't have a violent misdemeanor, you're not addicted to drugs or mentally ill, you and the wife will be good to go. They look for instability and a lack of responsible behavior, a history of violence, or a history of inability to follow rules.
Save up for your first pistolas and KEEP US POSTED!!!!

My interview was in Nassau, but it was the same as described above. Basically a breeze. |

I had Officer Gennari also, and I can say that she is professional and nice. You shouldn't have any problems.
However, while I was waiting I saw her yelling at someone so I got a little nervous, that guy kinda had it comin though |

ok MRobs...so how did the guy have it coming?? Have to make sure I don't do whatever he was doing!
I'll try to stay away from my tin foil hat. It doesn't go well with my suit anyway, and I have to wear that everyday so I'll at least look ok for the interview. My wife has to be business casual as well and as management always overdresses.
Any input on Vigorito? I'm more worried about him since the wifey is much newer to guns etc coming from a very lib family before I got working on her.
Thanks for all the feedback on Genari. It makes me a little less nervous. And I know being nervous is stupid. I'm not a criminal and its my RIGHT to have these guns, but NYS is much more of a 'you have to earn it, it's not your right' state than I'm used to. |

She was at the window and there was a guy there picking up a purchase doc. She asked him which store he was getting it from and the guy said it was on 110 in farmingdale but couldn't remember the name. A guy next to him told him american outdoor sports and they started chattin a little about it. She yelled at him saying "your talking to me! not him! pay attention and move along! etc etc" I was like oh crap but like i said she wound up being very nice |

OK, Interview is behind me, I'll admit I was a little nervous, but Officer Gennari was very professional and made the process go very quick and smooth...
I did see it mentioned that someone recieved and signed the handbook at the interview, I did not get the handbook, should I take that as bad omen?
I'm glad that's taken care of, now I can get that off my mind and get to that tax return...

Nope, not at all. They might not have had any, or they're changing the handbook. No biggie. |
