Just started with the first step here.
Trying to get my paperwork in order. I feel the longer I wait, the harder it gets...

I do have one question. I am living in NC, what happens if during the approval process I move into Queens?
What are my options?

Thanks,
D.

2nd - If you want a Pistol stay out of NYC.  If you move to NYC you have to go through their process that could take at least a year. Bloomyberg the ALMIGHTY doesn't want you to have a firearm.

If you move to Queens, your NC license is no good, and you would have to reapply in NYC.

You think it's tough NOW? Wait until you try NYC, and have to get separate licenses for long
guns and handguns.

Welcome!
As others have said, trying to get a license for NYC (which Queens is a part of) will be a nightmare.
Nearest county to Queens is Nassau. Way easier but will still take some time.

You can start here:

http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/html/permits/gun_licensing_faq.shtml

But you will have to wait until you can establish residency in NYC to even start the process.

Good luck, and Welcome.

Douglaston-you're SO CLOSE to the Nassau County line.
Do yourself a favor and find a place 2 miles farther east.
If your serious about getting a license, this is the most important step you can take.

Welcome aboard D!  +1 to what Dov said.

If you live in Douglaston, it wouldn't really be a stretch to live in Nassau.  The nonsence you need to go throught to get a NYC permit isn't worth it.  They even get you with long guns.  Nassau and Suffolk are tough enough, NYC... forgetabouit!

Welcome on board! And if you move to NYC, as the guys have said, you may as well take up fishing and get a dog for home defense.

In any scenario ,Best of luck.

Seriously! Remember the good ole days when no one pulled a gun in NYC because they might get shot by some guy selling dogs from a cart...

Sad to watch the people in the City getting throttled out of protecting themselves "for their safety".

Yea, and yet all the 'thugs' still have the guns.

When, exactly, did the laws become so strict? 80s, 90s, earlier, later? Sorry about the thread hijack. Welcome to the forums... oh, and stay out of NYC!
