why good retention is important, so you don't feel the need to hold it and run like an idiot

I do all those things all the time when I don't have a gun.

You're better off running like an idiot and not losing your gun.

I almost lost my sidearm on one stage of the West Point match this spring, using a holster that it's actually hard to get the gun out of. The stage started with running 25-30 yards to your left, about half way I sensed something wasn't right. I looked down and my SIG was 3/4's of the way out of my holster. Talk about a sickening feeling. I managed to shift the rifle to my other hand and grab the pistol quick enough, but the scare made me go weak in the knees.

Where's the poster detailing how gang members and drug dealers conceal their collapsible stock AR's with attached bayonet and high capacity ammunition feeding device in their baggy pants and puffy jackets? Oh wait... lol

I tend to do those things with my keychain or wallet, or if I have a flashlight or camera, or some other bulky/valuable item in my pocket. I suppose it would make sense not to act in such a way in places where there may be a high police presence, to avoid drawing their attention to you over nothing, especially when there very well may be individuals around who are illegally carrying a weapon.

and you are better than that with a retention holster that actually works.  If you need to go buy a Serpa or a snap or even a duty full retention holster its better than it maybe falling out.

funny, it dident bother Bloomies protective detail when the wind lifted a long black coat to flash his mp5.
not one person asked if it was a full auto......, you know, the ones he wants to ban cause they are ugly and black(unless he has them for himself).
(use a serpa with retention, lol and dont run).

duh....the laws weren't made for them...besides, who is going to come in and arrest a member of the private security detail of the billionaire mayor of New York City?  Ha...do you think Bloomberg would throw him under the bus if the ATF showed up or spend millions defending the guy?  SERPA is good from uncomplicated retention, but for FoF it is too easy to break the locking mechanism or just push the button.

I spotted someone on a plane carrying a few months ago. My first clue that he wasn't just a regular passenger were the cargo pants, tactical footwear, shirt bloused over his pants and general military look. Then when he stood up I check to see and low and behold he was printing. The confirmation came when he reached up for his bag in the overhead the bottom have of his holster became visible.

That was my first thought.

I don't know what other federal or state agencies are allowed to carry on board an aircraft. My sister-in-law works for the NYS department of parole and transports parole violators back from wherever they have been apprehended to NY. If my memory serves me correctly I think she was hassled about bring her firearm on board an aircraft.

I think even air marshalls carry in a gun box with a foil security seal or something that must be broken upon use - remember hearing something to that tune, might be wrong.

All Fed Leo's can carry issued weapons on a plane even off duty.  State and local can only carry in performance of duty or almost never.

My 11 year old nephew "made" me once when I ran into him at Wal-Mart some years ago. He just said, "you have a gun on you don't you?". I asked then if it was showing or printing. He just replied "nope, it is 90 degrees and you are a fat man with two shirts on." Smart kid.
