Please take a few minutes and read the following article.

Anti-Government Extremists. On the extreme end of the continuum are a wide array of anti-government extremist movements and groups. The anti-government extremists believe that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other government agencies are preparing concentration camps and mass graves for American citizens, that the U.S. government will engage in “door to door” gun confiscation, and that it is plotting to establish martial law in the United States. Many such groups and individuals implicitly or explicitly promote resistance, even armed resistance, to the government. The growth of these sentiments has been paralleled by a resurgence in the anti-government militia movement, which has considerably increased in size over the past year.
This wave of anti-government anger is in many ways reminiscent of a similar surge of such hostility in the early to mid-1990s, in the years before the Oklahoma City bombing. In fact, many of the more extreme conspiracy theories common today actually had their origins back in 1994; that was also the last period of growth in the militia movement.

This hostile wave of anti-Obama anger and paranoid anti-government conspiracy theories goes well beyond mere transgressions of civil political discourse. Anti-government agitators launch many attacks that do not merely disagree with government policies or positions, but rather attempt to delegitimize the government itself. Indeed, an increasing number of anti-government activists are convincing themselves, or have already done so, that the government is illegitimate. These growing beliefs threaten to create a large pool of people more susceptible to extreme anti-government conspiracy theories and even calls to resistance on the part of extremist groups and movements, such as the militia movement, which may grow as a result.

Significantly, many of these activists have appropriated an idealized version of Revolutionary War history for their own purposes, stressing the armed resistance of the American colonists to British “tyranny” and suggesting, in varying degrees of openness, that Americans today should act as their revolutionary forebears did and throw off the perceived shackles of the allegedly tyrannical government. Some of these notions have even percolated beyond extremist groups and movements into the mainstream. One example is the Appleseed Project (also known as the Revolutionary War Veterans Association), a marksmanship program that combines firearms training with historical/political lectures on the battles of Lexington and Concord in the Revolutionary War. Trainees are taught not only marksmanship but the idea that they are equivalent to the Revolutionary War patriots and might have to fight for their liberty in the near future. “We believe that if we teach it,” the Appleseed organizers state, “it’ll wake our fellow Americans…We want Lady Liberty to be safe.” Not surprisingly, more radical anti-government groups such as militia groups tend to support the Appleseed Project, because they have more extreme forms of many of the same beliefs.

Thanks VietVet.   I love the way they make a magical connection between  the level of concern about which direction our government is going in ("anti-government anger") and the OK City Bombing as if the two were directly related and if these feelings of distrust in our government continue, then another such tragedy would occur.  Who are the paranoid ones now?  This is typical leftist propaganda apparently disguising itself as legitimate reportage.

thankfully there is nothing for Appleseed to hide and therefore nothing to worry about.. the more press the better!

The Appleseed program is a "ballots not bullets" program and that is stressed at every shoot that I have been to.

Hopefully this will do nothing but stir more interest in the AS Program. They are totally off base on what they say about the program. Never has anyone at any AS I've attended tried in any way to sway my political thoughts. They also have made it very clear they are NOT a Militia.

Next Local Appleseed Shoot....Calverton, April 17 & 18th, 2010.

LIF now has almost 900 Members. We're pretty sad if we can't get 30 or so Members to sign up for this. Most of us go to Calverton just to shoot holes in paper. Why not show up and learn some proper shooting positions and techniques.

This comes from the ADL? Isn't "Fred," the Godfather of the Appleseed movement, Jewish himself?

What on earth are these people thinking?

It's not a Jewish thing or a Christian thing.  Its liberalism at it's best.  The ADL, the ACLU and many other organizations have been overrun with liberals since the more secular the organization, the more it attracts liberals.

Wow, disgusting. At the Appleseed, the instructors, in the very beginning, stress the marksmanship instruction as a way to connect people to their heritage. They also make it extremely clear that we have a duty to take an active role in government and contact our reps and let them know just how we feel, so that we will never ever have to face something like the Revolutionary War again.

We can do that. It would take me a little bit to round up an Instructor crew that can do a weekday shoot but it can be done. Worst case it could be done with just one Instructor but things would move a bit slower.

Sig,
RWVA has seen your post. They have started to gather a team for this shoot. I would suggest you start getting your people lined up.

Amigos,

That's what I am talking about.  Don't become part of the bench-rest militia.  Go out there practice, practice and practice.

I don't know much about the revolutionary or radical ideas present or not present in the appleseed project.  When the shtf make sure you can defend your home and family so appleseed, ipsc, uspsa, idpa, tactical training... whatever rocks your boat, go out there and get your behind off that stool and do some real practical shooting; which to me is anything, but sitting down and shooting at one target all day long.  If you think you are fighting for home and country and that motivates you then so be it.  I personally face Evil everytime I do an ipsc or idpa match.  And to be honest Evil has gotten the better of me this year.  But let not your  heart be troubled El Guapo shall return and resume his fight.... Ok I diverged... you get my point...

you know what, give me a heads up when you have your next apple seed.  I will bring my sombrero and a pinata full of little surprises...

The area of the Calverton range RWVA uses can handle around 45 shooters. Are we talking a one day or two? One day is a tight schedule but possible.

My opinion is go for the two days. If we can't get enough shooters drop it down to one. We'll need a date soon if we're going to get this going.

If I get my AR build completed in time, I'm in.

You don't need an AR to do this shoot. It can be done with any rifle you have. If this is a go we're going to have to muster up all the shooters we can.
