Guys, you didn't "miss it" ... you just probably weren't invited.  Please don't take that the wrong way.  I'll explain:

That was the first event of it's kind at Roslyn Rifle & Revolver Club.  The Club is/was very nervous about the many safety issues that can arise when you have a person shooting on the move.  The berms are adequate it's just the looming question of how safe is that shooter standing in the ready position will always exist.  As far as I know, any participant in the Roslyn Zombie Match that was not a Roslyn Member (most were) had to be vouched for by a Roslyn Member.  I am a new Roslyn Member and did participate in that match.

Historically RRRC has been a "Bullseye" club.  Smallbore, Highpower & Bullseye Handgun have always been what the Roslyn Club is about.  The trophies and awards that they have amassed since 1928 is amazing!  Roslyn now has a handful of members that would like to shoot and move a little bit.  The Club's Board is very concerned about safety and preserving the range, as are the handful of members.  It's just all new to the club.

It's easier to run a "paper target" match when all the shooters are on the same firing line at once and firing at the same time.  Running individual shooters through a course of fire one at a time is new at Roslyn and they learned a lot about how to get it done.  I have shot Cowboy Action, IDPA, & IPSC so I can help.

I love being a Roslyn Member and do not want to do anything that would jeopardize The Club first, and my membership second.  The rest of the membership just has to decide if they think these type of matches are safe AND fun.   I think everyone had fun at the previous shoot so I'm hoping there will be a future for this type of match at RRRC and I'm willing to help design, coordinate and work them.

About a year ago I designed a Zombie shoot. Stages, rules and so on. I have to find my notebook and then see if I could set one up for 2010. I made if a run what you have match. Lever Action, Shotgun, Pistol, .22 it doesn't matter. My biggest problem was how to score the match. Now that I see how the PA event is being scored it would be much easier.

I do remember one stage I made. Redneck shooting gallery: Targets from 25yrds to 250yrds away. You have 30secs to make as many head shots as possible. Head shots are the only way to take down the walking dead.

Two things. Most likely I will be setting up a shoot for 2010 and you won't need a pistol for the match. Think about it, if the walking dead came today what gun would you grab? Same for my match, bring what you got.

Second, if you are under 21 you can shoot another persons handgun in a match held in NY. How old are you?

If I remember correctly, it's 18. But it must be under the strict supervision for the purpose of marksmanship training by a certified instructor....yada yaday...
"match" was not used in the wording, but instruction / marksmanship was...

I've read the wording online, but haven't found it again.
I'll keep looking, it's there , just can't find the right keywords to get it to come up again.

found some wording, but not the exact same I remember in the past.

"Persons between age 18 and 21 may possess a handgun at an indoor or outdoor pistol range located in or on premises owned or occupied by a duly incorporated organization organized for conservation purposes or to foster proficiency in small arms.  A person between the ages of 18 and 21 may also possess a handgun at a target pistol shooting competition under the auspices of or approved by the NRA and while under immediate supervision)."

I thought there were more words qualifying the qualifications of a instructor...

Found the actual NYS law...
gotta go here...
http://public.leginfo.state.ny.us/menugetf.cgi?COMMONQUERY=LAWS

then put in " 265.20 Exemptions " for a search term.

Click on Penal Law § 265.20 when it comes up in the results...

Para's 7 , 7.a, 7.e .
Seems it says 14-21 .

Gives me a headache reading the legal jargon.

That's a good idea, we should run a practical shooting zombie match ourselves, perhaps even make heavy cardboard figures with clothes and everything, anyone have access to old mannequins? The fact that some mannequins have no arms or may be missing limbs is fine, since zombies may still function without limbs, in fact blowing the limbs off a zombified mannequin would be quite fun. I volunteer to make up some cardboard zombies wearing old clothes for targets.

Bad news everyone.

Obama Signs Bill Protecting NiHI Zombies

In a stunning move sparking controversy from Capitol Hill to California, President Obama has signed into law the "GHOUL" bill, or more informatively, "Grand Humane Organization for Undead Life", which protects the undead from merciless assault from the living. This came as a surprise to even the most Senior Administration Officials , who expressed shock when the plan was revealed. Under the provisions of this Bill:

It will be illegal to use any firearms, weapon, or instrument of mass destruction against a Zombie or Zombies.
Police will be notified about Zombie activity and analyze and dispose of the threat.
In no way shape or form should any citizen attempt to effect self defense.

In discussing it, the new Zombie Czar, Hillary Clinton, suggested that the problem with zombies is a problem of morality.

"These poor zombies are sick, and were exposed against their will, I do not think it is fair to punish them, given the fact that they were once human, and I think the American People are willing to learn a new struggle to get along with what we ourselves have created."

Other politicans weighed in the issue, such as Sen. Carolyn McCarthy. In taped interviews after the release of press details, she went on record as saying "I have never heard of a zombie using a firearm. The real violent ones are the gun owners." When asked is she could identify a Zombie, McCarthy could not and in fact pointed to a picture of Hillary Clinton.

Others were no so enthused about the plan, like Congressman Ron Paul, who quickly moved to block the law on a state level, saying our Constitution gives no Right to the dead. He could not be reached for comment as his Office was distributing confiscated IRS Mossberg shotguns to middle and lower income families.

Michelle Obama made a public appearance in the Rose Garden with a Zombie who seemed, if possible, more lethargic than a normal zombie, which led to rumors of massive drugging. She discounted that possibility, saying she was present with the corpse was unearthed, but refused to answer why several darts could be seen sticking out of what appeared to be a  disemboweled liver.

Obama finished his presentation  by concluding :"Let me be clear on this. Americans want to get along , they want to move forward with human/zombie co-existence. My Administration is the only Administration so far, in American History, that directly benefits everyone, including our enemies, and I think that says a lot about how we are thought of in the International Community."

When asked if this meant allowing Zombies to attack at will, Obama assured the Press that these were just distracting rumors started by Glenn Beck and Fox News.

Detractors of the Obama administration were also critical. A Senior Taliban Official, who chose to remain anonymous because of imminent drone air strikes was Quoted as saying "Are you (expletive) kidding me? This is crazy, get me the phone, I am calling McChrystal myself."

Obama could not be reached for comment as his wife, family, and dog have been relocated to an undisclosed location.

Doc T, I was just about to say that. I think he'd set up a commission first to find a diplomatic solution to the zombie problem, after all, they are american zombies.

Bad news everyone.

Obama Signs Bill Protecting NiHI Zombies

Well they are dead / un-dead.

And the dead do traditionally vote Democrat.

He's just protecting his constituents and potential voting base.

But what about zombies from the bodies of illegal aliens? Will they be covered! Inquiring minds want to know!

Does the transition from Illegal alien to zombie affect resident status?

Illegal aliens are still prized as potential voters by the Democrats, so their status as zombies is irrelevant.

-Vinny

The things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. People are good; honor, courage, virtue mean everything; power and money mean nothing; good always triumphs over evil; true love never dies. A man should believe in those things, because worth they believing in.

I was told yesterday that it is open only to RR&R members.

On the other hand I just got back from the PA Zombie Shoot. It was awsome. I will start a new thread later on today. I just want to edit some video I shot. Yes I made it through the hoards and won some cool prizes.

IRWFO , Bob Torre and I met at the range today to hash out some ideas for a zombie shoot. We even set up and shot a few demo stages.

The P-Man got a picture of El Guapo shooting the one test stage. Of course he says it's STILL too easy.
