I was thinking about getting this conversion kit for my Glock19...i was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this particular product? I'm also open to suggestions if anyone has had good experiences with a different kit

Yes. As a matter of fact I have one, used it, love it!

I picked up mine from The Campsite. They are impossible to find online in stock, Campsite had one. If I'm not mistaken they had 1 more in stock last I checked yesterday..call first.

I have one love it. Pays for itself after a few range trips. You just have to use the correct ammo for it.

I forgot but they have information with the kit that tells you what to buy if you can find it.

Used it once, do not see any advantages. I would rather use a 22lr handgun.

Hmmm. . . Now you guys have me thinking here. . . Without checking the Internet yet, do any of you know if they make the .22 conversion for the G17 also?

Low cost. If you are using your handgun for defensive use it's useful to be able to shoot the same weapon with the same trigger, same grip, same manual of arms and same sights but do it a lot cheaper.

recoil is totally different. might as well use a different gun, I think.

Strongly disagree. You're working with the same grip, same sights, same safety systems, same trigger, same mag catch, etc., all of which is a good thing. Everything's the same but the recoil. No system is perfect but IMHO .22 conversions get in the neighborhood. I own several, for both handguns and rifles (or have complete dedicated matched .22 guns).

I think it's a big advantage to train on the weapon you would use. I found it to be a HUGE advantage learning the trigger and sights on my glock, all while using dirt cheap ammo. After you're done with the .22 you switch back over to 9mm and the difference is pretty drastic.   Just my .02

Exactly Boris. You train with what you carry. Period. Isn't your life, and those around you, worth the cost of a few boxes of ammunition which you intend to carry for training purposes?  I certainly do.

The idea of the conversion kit is to go plinkin' without having to actually purchase another firearm, and plinkin' with a .22 is fun and inexpensive to do, hence, a conversion is a viable alternative. (IMHO) . . . and we all know about those, don't we.

the reduced recoil may even help overcome any flinching/anticipating that you may be doing...

According to most of the Glock specific forums, the best .22 conversion is the one from Advantage Arms http://www.advantagearms.com/conversion_kit.html.  They have units for most (if not all) Glock pistols.
