I saw this sign while playing golf at Bethpage this weekend (green course).  Is this a defunct range, state police, etc...?

I have always said that a golf course = waste of a perfect shooting range.

It's an active range. Used for state park police. sometimes NYSP will be up there aswell, but not that often. Not open to the public in the least...

Funny, I was just thinking the same thing after pulling it up on google maps.... and remember, they grabbed all the rifles that were at teh Huntington range and couldn't match anything.

Hhhmmmm....... and absolutely not mention of this range, that is MUCH closer than the Town range was ....  Hhhhhmmmmmmm.......  I know I've often heard gunfire off 'in the woods' in that area, which I'm now thinking was from this range.

wonder what kinda security is there?  locals sneaking in?, park employees?

if you are legally allowed to be there - then it would be the ranges issue, their insurance would need to cover something like that, unless you intentionally shot out of the range (most have cameras) = thats what I assume, they can probably try to come after you with a lawsuit but dont know how that would hold up

maybe MMurtha can lend us some knowledge.

I didnt read the whole thread, but I remember taking my hunting course at the Knight of Columbus in Farmingdale a year or two ago and they said the Babylon Shooting Range is a Private range for Police officers however they do have memberships for 300 dollars a year and it is open 24/7.

I was thinking about doing it, if I do I will post up a review. I dont know if they completly shut it down to the public.

(Excuse me if I am thinking of the wrong town and or wrong range, this was a while ago. I am looking into it though!)

You are responsible for every shot that you make, so if it gets traced back to the shooter, then that person will face charges or liabilities.

So the key word here is "trace".    No trace no problem.  Let's see 99 dollar wolfe barrel, a new firing pin and whalla, bring out the pinatas.

LEO here.  Be very careful of what you put on internet as I hope you were just JOKING about what you just wrote down.  Trying to cover up your own fault is also a crime of its own.
