Holster are just important as the handgun cuz if it isn't comfortble the gun is going to stay in the safe. It takes purchasing a few different makes to get the best feel. Just like a your handgun you can customize it to your indivdual feel. From kydex to ostrich. There are also different types of holster. IWB, belt, small of back, cross draw, shoulder, and paddle, and different security options like retention screws and retention snaps. A good holster boned right you won't really need any of these. Hand gun should come out with a little tension and not fall out while on your back or when holster is upside down. If your using your gun for range use only I would go with a good paddle holster easy on and off and you can wear it with or without a belt. If you have your CCW I would stick with a nice IWB or a small handgun a nice pocket holster great for summer carry and when your not wearing a belt. I would say the average price on a good holster $35-50 for a paddle or belt holster, and $60-$100 for a good IWB. The holster I would stay away from is cobra biggest cheapest piece of crap. It was $20 bucks if I spent an extra $20 bucks I would have a custom made holster. The holsters I carry and use are the comp tac mtac for my S&W MP 45 iwb. Surprisely very comfortable and makes this brick disapear in my pants have to touch to make sure it's there very good concealment. For range carry I have the comptac paddle holster for both my S&W MP 45 and Glock 19. Again very comfartable at the 5 0 clock position and good tension rentention. I have the sam andrews leather pocket holster in left and right for my S&W 340 pd very comfortable and forget it's even there. I hear blackhawk is good. Galco is also a very good choice. I see a few guys carry with the fobus not really a fan. Good luck on your choice.
I recently bought a crossbreed iwb holster http://www.crossbreedholsters.com I couldnt be more pleased with this holster. Does a great job concealing and comfortable as hell.
i've tried the galco summer special for a 1911 airsoft pistol i bought (never carried outside the house, just testing holsters til i get my permit), and it does not work with my body at all (fluffy). i plan on getting an M-Tac from ctac when funds allow.
Hey shiky good choice on the mtac. I have the summer special for my S&W 340 pd and it's alright just a bit bulky. The mtac holster is a very comfortable holster and it make your pistol seem like it's not even there. Don't be fooled by the clips that come with it they are very strong. I would recommend measuring your belt because you don't want to get to small or to big a clip other wise you gun will be flopping around on your belt. Also it's nice because instead of buying a brand new holster at about $80 a pop you can spend $30 dollars and get a new piece to mount to the existing leather backing. Good luck. And if you want any pictures sent pm me.
just got another iwb holster from crossbreed and again these guys came through with flying colors. If anybody is interested in ordering from them used the coupon code NRA and receive 10% off your order.

+1 on the Crossbreed. Doesn't look like it would be comfortable, but it is. Even with larger guns, after 10 minutes, you forget you're wearing it, and conceals VERY well. Reasonably priced too...$60-$70 or so.

what are some good drop leg holsters i want one for after basic training but i dont know anything about them

Lol, yes at least a drawer full over the years. I just started thinning the herd a year or so. I sold a crossdraw for a Browning BDA (why would I need a crossdraw for a .380 that I would never carry?). Now that I am thinking about it, I believe I still have a Miami Vice Crossdraw for a Glock 23/19 that I will never use either!
John. . . Don't sell any more of your holsters! I sold one for my 4" Python years ago and all of a sudden like. . . I got this urge to wear it again. Darn it!. . . had to go out and buy a new one! That was silly. . . . don't ya think!? lol
(Anyway. . . . I love my new holster for it. . . . and it gave me something to do! lol )
I agree Eric. I am not getting rid of holsters that belong to any gun I would carry. To me, the Browning BDA is not a carry gun, and never would be for a few reasons. Any gun that I have used as a carry gets, of course, holster wear. Also, not with standing the holster wear issue, the BDA is a .380 and that is a little to petite a caliber for me to rely on as a carry. I have grown to like the looks of the BDA too much (especially the bluing which I polished) to subject it to abuse.
As for the Glock 23, it was a trusted carry until it stove piped on me. Now it is a safe queen. It will never be carried again as a defensive gun.
I just purchased the CrossBreed holster that another member on here recommended and let me tell you as far as conealment and comfort is concerned, it is the best holster I own. The plus side is that I ordered it for a glock 26 but my glock 19 fits perfect too! Two in one
Anther crossbreed fan here, It’s the first holster I can truly say is comfortable and concealable for a guy of my size (6’4 300lbs) I had ordered for my mp9c, but it also fits my sw 4006 like a glove as well…

I carry a Don Hume H721 strong side belt slide holster. Nice and comfy and works great. No problems in 12 years, besides wearing out and having to replace it. I get a new one every 2 years and love them.
I have a Kramer Inside The waist Horsehide for my S&W sigma and i love it. I have 1 for my Glock 30 made out of cowhide, the horsehide is better. I just bought a Kydex IWB this spring from Tucker, thats really GREAT!!!!! John Henry Blackheart
